Our innovative hybrid learning environment is designed to provide learners with high levels of autonomy, allowing them to learn in the way that suits them best. They move freely when they need, to collaborate with their peers and mentors, to take a break and help themselves to a snack or to choose a different area in which they can best concentrate. This is true to real life and one which they will encounter in the future.
We believe the physical environment plays an essential part in learning and is often referred to as the 'third teacher' and that young people deserve the highest standards of design. Our hub is open plan of stripped back Scandinavian/Industrial design incorporating dedicated zones, movable tables and chairs, a fully equipped kitchenette, a well stocked library and the use of a soft colour palette.
The hub provides a sense of community and belonging where both learners and mentors work together to foster a love of learning.
A Typical Hub Day
We arrive between 8:15 to 9:00am and enjoy breakfast whilst socialising with our friends in the community zone. At 9:00am we all gather for circle time to foster personal, social, and emotional development, to discuss the day ahead and to participate in topical discussion. At 9:20am to 12:20pm we use the learning platform to follow our personal pathways in English, Maths, and Science supported by our mentors one-to one or breaking out into small focus groups. At 1.20pm, we enjoy hands-on project based learning, entrepreneurship, humanity topic work, P.E./sport. There is all school 'Creator Friday' where we enjoy music, art and design, design technology, computing, Spanish and where we undertake visits and outdoor activities. Home time is at 3.30pm (except Wednesday when it is 4.30pm to allow for P.E) and unless we choose to join an extra-curricular activity until 5.00pm.

When we go home there is no homework with the exception of a reading book and weekly spellings so we can enjoy other activities and socialising with family and friends.​
