There is a middle way of learning that supports those children who need a different type of education from the one developed for the Industrial Revolution.
There are many children who, whilst not diagnosed as being neurodivergent, mentally struggle with the expectations of traditional school. It is these children who need extra time and support that without, frequently fall behind academically, socially and emotionally. A more nurturing learning environment is required, with smaller class sizes, where teachers have the time to get to know and mentor each child as a unique individual, where focus is not solely on academic progress and achievement.
The physical space also plays an essential part where each child acquires a sense of belonging, where there are opportunities to partake in mental wellbeing that includes break out time whenever needed, where they have the freedom to move and to find a place to learn in whatever place that suits them best, to learn at their own pace with freedom of choice within limits and to enjoy a calmness not ordinarily found in school.
It is this type of flexible learning environment that provides a middle way between traditional education which is academically focused and those schools who strictly follow an alternative pedagogy such as Montessori and Waldorf which for some parents, goes beyond their comfort zone.
At Mont21hub, we have developed a unique micro school that provides an ideal learning environment, where children are nurtured and cared and who acquire a sense of belonging enabling them to thrive and prosper on their onward learning journey.
