As a Montessori-inspired school, we have always believed that learning should be self-directed and personalised to the ability of each unique child.

As a Montessori-inspired school, we have always believed that learning should be self-directed and personalised to the ability of each individual child, rather than following the one-size-fits-all approach often found in mainstream education.

When we expanded into primary education over ten years ago, building on our extensive experience in early years learning, we introduced personalised learning plans for every child. Each plan offered a choice of English, mathematics, science, and an additional subject selected by themselves according to their own interests and passions. Delivered each morning, these plans allowed children the freedom to choose the subject they felt most confident and comfortable engaging with at that moment.

The plans were carefully prepared by our teachers following a one-to-one conference with each child at the end of the preceding week. They were tailored to the child’s progress and informed by self-assessment using a simple traffic light system: Green - “I found this easy” Amber - “I found this a little difficult and need some help” and Red - “I found this too hard”. Each plan was individually handwritten and included references to additional resources in preparation for the week ahead.

Today, with the advent of AI, this highly time intensive process has evolved. Our learning platform now enables every child to follow their own personalised learning pathway with continuous, real-time assessment and adaptive support.

While AI has replaced much of the administrative burden of pen-and-paper planning, it has not diminished the importance of human interaction. Our teachers remain central to the learning experience, guiding, supporting, and inspiring children both individually and in small focus groups, using either Montessori didactic materials or more traditional teaching methodologies where appropriate.

We believe that the development of human intelligence, creativity, critical thinking, and emotional understanding is more important than ever in the age of AI. Technology should never replace the human element of education; it should serve as a tool to assist and enrich learning within a nurturing school environment which we have developed at Mont21hub.
